Guns and Hoses

We are proud to announce a new exhibition, Guns and Hoses, beginning January 19, 2014 featuring photographs of the Police and Fire Departments.
There will be a number of photographs featuring the Abilene Police and Fire Departments throughout the years. We are also pleased to announce that we will be featuring artifacts on loan from the Dickinson County Historical Society including Chief Engle’s badge and a hose cart.

In honor of the opening of this exhibit, we will be hosting an exhibit preview party. We will be offering beverages and hors d’oeuvres while you and your friends and family browse the new exhibit prior to opening day. The exhibit preview will begin at 5:00pm and continue until 8:00pm on Friday, January 16, 2015.

Please make sure to stop by and enjoy the exhibit preview party at 5:00pm on January 16! The newest exhibit will officially open on the Monday, January 19th and run through March 24th. The museum hours are 8:30-3:30 Monday and Tuesday and by appointment.
Please continue to check out our FaceGuns and Hosesbook page to help identify pictures. We also have familiar faces books at the museum for those who would want to stop in and look through them.

Business Men of Abilene to be featured in new Jeffcoat Exhibit

Do you remember the good ol’ days when you could go to Nockey’s for a hamburger after a Friday night football game? Or what about going to Bankes to have an ice cream sundae on a hot July afternoon? And who didn’t want to go to a movie on Saturday night at one of the Abilene theaters owned by the Strowig boys?

The new exhibit at Jeffcoat Photography Studio Museum will not only feature pictures of these and many more business men of Abilene, but will help you revisit the past and relive your memories of growing up in Abilene and visiting these stores and there owners.
Many of the businesses featured now have new owners, but a few of them remain the same. But the memories you have of the times spent there will last forever.

Come in to Jeffcoat Photography Studio Museum and take a walk down memory lane.
